28% Tomatometer 40 Reviews 60% Audience Score 250+ Verified Ratings Aspiring club promoters and best buds Damon (Tosin Cole) and Kevin (Jacob Latimore) are barely keeping things together. Out of money, down on their luck and about to lose the roofs over their heads--and freshly fired from their low-lift jobs as house cleaners--the pair needs a huge windfall to make their problems go away. In a 'what the hell?' move, they decide to host the party of the year at an exclusive mansion, the site of their last cleaning job, which just happens to belong to none other than LeBron James. No permission? No problem. What could go wrong? How about a time traveling DJ, undependable security, a runaway guest list, one borrowed Lamborghini, angry rival promoters, a stolen championship ring, escalating property damage, an angry koala..? But also, one outrageous ride stacked with double-take cameos and timeless throwback tracks, R-rated comedy and two friends worth cheering for... you have to see to believe. After all, a night like this doesn't come around more than once. Read More Read Less Watch on Fandango at Home Buy Now

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Keeping the same basic outline but almost entirely forgetting the original's sense of fun, this unnecessary remake proves a House Party divided against itself cannot stand.

Audience Says

Okay, so this House Party isn't exactly a rager -- but with the right company and some good stuff in the punch bowl, you probably won't want to leave early either.

House Party (2023) | Rotten Tomatoes (1) Dwight Brown DwightBrownInk.com Bringing the ‘90s back is hard work. So hard this new House Party reboot only gets half the job done. But when it’s on, it’s on. And that’s not something you want to compare your film to. Rated: D- Mar 6, 2024 Full Review House Party (2023) | Rotten Tomatoes (5) Eric Eisenberg CinemaBlend It plays around with a handful of hilarious bits and certainly does hit some satisfying extremes, but they represent small spikes of entertainment as the movie primarily plateaus across its second and third acts... arquise I definitely like the movie. Would recommend to see for fun, Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/11/23 Full Review Rolanda Not interesting and very silly. Not at all like I thought it would be judging by old house party movies. Very disappointing. Rated 1/5 Stars • Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review Karen F It wasn't a bad attempt, but not as good as the original. Maybe it was because we knew Kid N Play as Kid N Play and the two in this version were fairly unknown, but no pre-recognized dynamic between them. The Labron factor helped the updated storyline. It's a good Friday night at-home kind of movie. Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review TINA House Party was So Great. I Really Enjoyed it. Thanks Rated 5/5 Stars • Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Jo & Co It totally baffles me how anyone in their right mind can give this dreadful movie TEN!! Jo and I are being very kind in giving it 2. I understand it is a reboot of a classic movie of the same name. Neither Jo nor I have seen it so we cannot compare. The movie had a really stupid plot - man needs money. He is about to be fired from his job as a house cleaner. He is at the superbly expensive house of a famous basket ball player and for no real reason decides to organize a house party at this house. The owner is away and he has easy access to his address book and invites a hundred plus people to the house for a party. The invitees have to pay an admission fee that will settle his debts. With a close friend, also a cleaner, and with just a day or so before the famous owner comes back all these very weird friends turn up. Plus a gang who he owes money, too. How they got invited I missed out omn the reason.Utter chaos takes place, the famous basketball player's ring is stolen plus total havoc rains in the house. We are subjected to a dream sequence that lasted half an hour and seemed much longer. There is confusion, throughout, appalling acting, dreadful dialogue and a plot so full of holes even treacle would gush out.We cannot think of anything that was even remotely funny and it got an extra star because it wasn't too long. It just seemed like it.Jo said to me, "Everybody except us must have known how bad this movie is." She was referring that the total audience, including us, was FOUR! Rated 2/5 Stars • Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Lou It passed the time. Average movie Rated 3/5 Stars • Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
