One of the many reasons i like the Jiraiya character and why i identify with him, not just because of his strengths and uncanny way, is also the meaning of his headband. The kanji for Oil 油あぶら (Abura) is the symbol of Myobokuzan. Jiraiya wearing it on his forehead protector represents his affiliation to it. Just like the oil in a recipe, He was the great connector in Naruto. Oil is key ingredient in any dish. Oil is my favorite ingredient; it has different forms and origins, and it is the most inclusive and diverse of the ingredients, it can be foundand utilized in any cuisine worldwide. The fact that Jiraiya travelled the world in search of knowledge that would help his friends, the various novels he wrote, and that would be passed on to his godson and final student, it always reminded me the journey to become a chef. Learn as much as you can, steal with your eyes, make skills and techniques of your own. Use the knowledge and the passion to blend and create something special to share with others, with the hope to give them a good memory. Last week we had the chance to have a special celebration to thank Mr. Todd Irvine, current Muskego High School Principal and Newly appointed Superintendent for the Muskego Norway school district, making him "Honorary Chef". Todd and I developed a special bond of mutual respect; he has always been very supportive of us and he, along with Jim Michlich, had a key role in making happen my cooking show for The Crunchyroll World Anime Awards in March with 48 hours notice. Sometimes a work partnership goes beyond imagination. For a day, it was great to answer him with : Yes, Chef!

Behold the Pervy Sage

During our Chef Council Trip in Slovenia and Croatia we had so many great meals and we savored delicious ingredients and dishes. Summarize to which one was the best it would be unfair to the others. However, if we count the memories we had created with the food, my very favorite, was not dining at the Michelin rated restaurants, but it was sharing the food on the bus with the rest of the group. Trent cutting the salami with Sam's pocket knife, the bread and the prosciutto we bought from the lady speaking Italian, the cheese and the truffle spread, and of course the always present "bus wine" passed around with the snack and espresso candies, were to me the best bites and moments of the trip. Just like when I was younger, playing rugby in Italy, traveling by bus with my teammates, the bonds shared in those moments are still clear in my mind. If it is true what happens in Vegas, stay in Vegas. I have to say:When happens on the snack bus stay in our memories forever!
